Embracing a New Direction: Seeking First the Kingdom in Life and Photography

October 1st, 2024

In the bustling world of wedding and portrait photography, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle, striving for perfection, and chasing after the latest trends. While I'm passionate about capturing beautiful moments and creating stunning images, I've come to realize that there's something more profound at the heart of it all.

Recently, while listening to Brittany Bruce's podcast, "The Well Done Woman," I was struck by her powerful insight on the verse in Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

She focused on that pivotal word, "BUT," highlighting its implication of a directional change. It's a call to shift our focus from the fleeting pursuits of this world to the eternal kingdom of God.

A Change of Heart

For so long, I've found myself chasing after things that promised satisfaction but ultimately left me empty and burnt out. The relentless pursuit of success, recognition, and material possessions can be exhausting. Even the pursuit of people-pleasing and trying to find rest in all the wrong places is exhausting.

But praise be to God, who never leaves us nor forsakes us! His love remains constant, even when we wander off course.

When Jesus said, "But...", He was inviting us to a radical change of mind. Instead of seeking what the world says will satisfy, we are called to agree with God and seek Him first. He is the source of all we need.

Seeking First in Business

Even in the realm of photography, I recognize that if I'm not seeking the Lord first and glorifying Him in all I do, I'll miss out on serving you, my dear clients, well. He is worthy of our wholehearted devotion.

By prioritizing my relationship with God, I can love and give my best to each and every client I have the privilege of serving.

An Invitation to You

My dear friend, I encourage you to embark on this journey of seeking first the Kingdom of God. Life truly is an adventure – WITH CHRIST!

Let's make a conscious effort this week to prioritize our relationship with the Lord. Let's delve into His Word, spend time in prayer, and cultivate a heart of gratitude.

It's time to rest in Him and seek His face.

A New Direction for This Blog

While I'll share photography tips and beautiful images along the way, I'm taking a step to do things differently with this blog at the Beginning.

I desire to be intentional and vulnerable (though sometimes hard for me), sharing about life and what God is teaching me, and encouraging you in your walk with Him.

My desire is that this blog will foster a community of believers who seek the Lord together. We can uplift and support one another as we navigate the joys and challenges of life.

If you don't yet know Jesus, I pray that He draws you to Himself and speaks to your heart today.

Let's be intentional together. Let's seek the Lord and experience the abundant life He has for us.

With love and blessings,

Amber
